What led me to therapy

For years I contemplated trying therapy.
.
I knew had issues and past trauma that I needed to address. I had been having chest pain consistently ever since I started teaching from the stress of it all, and I was sure that wasn’t doing my body any good. But I started sweating and my mind would race just thinking about where to start with finding a good therapist that fit my needs. I was also worried about the process – how painful would it be to talk through past hurts? How long will it take to feel better?
.
It wasn’t until I was a coach for a couple of years, after listening to hours of podcasts and self help books, that I realized I can’t fix myself on my own. I NEEDED professional help.
.
Becoming a coach really did lead me to where I am today – I went through a few months of EMDR therapy before we got pregnant with Michael. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my life, but I’m so glad I did it. While I was pregnant with Michael I continued with the same therapist but did talk therapy, which I felt was still very beneficial, too.
